When you first notice that your vehicle is struggling to fire up, it’s best to bring it to the mechanic’s attention. Otherwise, the issue could soon get worse and prevent your car from starting at all. At European Fine Car Repairs, we can expertly address issues that cause no-start in European vehicles. Here are six common causes of hard-starts and no-starts. Dead Battery The most common reason for a car not starting is a dead battery. If you leave your headlights on or don’t drive for long periods, your battery can run out of juice. In many cases, a quick jumpstart can get you back on the road. However, if your battery is old, it may need to be replaced. Faulty Starter Motor Your starter motor is responsible for turning your engine over and getting it running. If it’s faulty, your engine won’t crank. You may hear a clicking noise when you try to start your car, which can indicate starter motor trouble. Bad Alternator The alternator’s job is to recharge the battery while you drive. If your alternator is malfunctioning, your battery won’t be able to hold a charge, leading to a car that won’t start. If you’ve noticed dimming headlights or electrical issues while driving, your alternator might be on its way out. Ignition System Issues Problems with the ignition switch or ignition coil can make it hard for your car to start. If the ignition switch is faulty, the electrical power needed to start the engine won’t be delivered. Similarly, a bad ignition coil won’t provide the spark necessary to ignite the fuel in your engine. Fuel Delivery Problems If your engine isn’t getting the fuel it needs, it won’t start. This can be caused by a clogged fuel filter or a failing fuel pump. A faulty fuel pump can prevent gas from reaching the engine, while a clogged filter can block the flow of fuel. Faulty Spark Plugs Spark plugs are responsible for igniting the air-fuel mixture in your engine. If your spark plugs are worn or damaged, your car may not start, or it could run rough when it does start. If you’ve experienced poor performance recently, such as misfiring or rough idling, worn spark plugs could be the issue. Your car’s suspension system plays a critical role in maintaining smooth handling, stability, and comfort. When your suspension is in good condition, it absorbs bumps in the road and enables a balanced ride. However, components can wear out, leading to performance issues. At European Fine Car Repairs, we provide expert European suspension repair in the greater Boca Raton area. Here are four common signs of a suspension issue. Excessive Bouncing After Hitting a Bump A well-functioning suspension system should absorb bumps in the road, allowing for a smooth ride. If you notice that your car continues to bounce excessively after going over a bump or dip, your suspension may be compromised. This is often a sign that your shocks or struts are worn out. Worn shocks can reduce your car’s ability to handle bumps and can make your ride feel rougher than usual. Uneven Tire Wear If the suspension system isn’t properly distributing the weight of your vehicle, certain tires may bear more load than others, causing them to wear out unevenly. If you notice bald patches or areas of your tire tread that are more worn than others, it’s time to have your suspension checked. Uneven tire wear can also lead to safety concerns, such as poor traction and handling. Car Pulls to One Side If your car pulls to one side while you’re driving, especially on a straight road, it could indicate an issue with the suspension. This pulling could be due to misaligned wheels or a damaged suspension component. While wheel alignment is often the first thing to check, persistent pulling could signal deeper suspension problems, such as worn-out control arms. Nose Dives During Braking If the front end of your car dips significantly when you apply the brakes, this is commonly referred to as "nose diving." This could indicate that your shocks or struts are no longer able to properly support the weight of your vehicle during braking. Not only can this affect the comfort of your ride, but it can also increase stopping distances, making your vehicle less safe in emergency situations. He responded quickly, took time to answer my questions, and went above and beyond to make the process as smooth as possible! Very professional, knowledgeable, and quality service! Also, the price was the best around! Highly recommend!!” — Sarah J. “Best place ever! Honest & capable, they're the opposite of a "typical" car repair shop. I'll never bring my car anywhere else.” — Aleina R. “My vehicle needed a wheel alignment very bad. I brought my car here and they did a very good job. They didn’t try to upsell me on services I didn’t need. I’ll be back next time for other services.” — Jaybie O. “ANY negative reviews are from BEFORE Pete bought the place. I honestly could not have found a better shop for my Fiat! European vehicles are expensive to fix, and finding a place that isn't trying to rob you AND knows what they're doing, is almost impossible; especially for a woman! Now that I've found these guys they'll forever be my "go-to". They're trustworthy, knowledgeable, and I plan to refer EVERYONE to them!” — Amanda K. “They were wonderful, and they did everything they said they were going to do and Peter the owner was a delight to work with.” — Joseph M.
